Splitting packs in Traece™ allows you to divide a single pack of dimensional lumber into smaller packs, making it easier to manage inventory and meet diverse customer needs. This feature is particularly useful when dealing with different grades of lumber, as it enables you to separate materials based on their quality or specifications. You can optimize inventory, reduce waste, and increase sales flexibility by splitting packs.

Here’s a guide on how to split packs and enhance your inventory management process.

Split an Industrial Pack

To begin the splitting process:

  1. From your left-hand navigation menu in Traece™, click on Industrial Packs

  2. Click on the actions icon next to the pack you want to merge and select Split

Note: You can only split a pack into one additional pack.

Configure the New Pack

Once the split option is selected:

  • The modal will automatically populate a new pack configuration for the pack being split.

  • Enter the following information for the newly split pack:

    • Total Board Feet (BF): Specify the total board feet for the new pack.

    • Number of Rows: Enter the number of rows for the new pack.

    • Pack Width: Provide the width of the new pack.

You can also add or configure additional details such as:

  • Tags, Characters, Location, Status, Barcode, and Grade.

Confirm Split Information

After entering the necessary details:

  • Review and confirm the information for both packs to ensure it accurately reflects the desired split.

Note: A pack will be automatically archived if it has 0 Available BF.

Confirm the Split

  • Click Confirm to finalize the splitting process.

Important Note: Editing Restrictions After Splitting

Once packs have been merged, split, or partially sold, you will not be able to edit any of the dimensions of the packs. Ensure all information is correct before completing these actions to maintain accurate records and inventory control.

By splitting packs in Traece™, you can easily manage different grades and specifications of lumber, ensuring your inventory is flexible and tailored to your customers' needs.

Following these steps, you can effectively split packs in Traece™ and optimize your overall inventory management.
