Are you ready to unleash the full power of your Traece™ system? One of the key steps in setting up your system is defining the Species you work with and assigning per-thickness pricing to them. By defining the various species of Trees you use and associating them with various thicknesses, you can then easily assign a price per-thickness based on material type, whether it's Slab, Dimensional, Cylinder/cookie, or more. With these essential pieces in place, you can train the system to automatically create pricing for you, making your workflow more efficient and streamlined than ever before.

Required User Level(s): Admin only

Accessing Species & Species Pricing

  • Navigate to your Settings in the top-right of Traece™

  • Click Configuration on the left-hand menu

  • Click the Species tab.

Once here, you will see a list of 25 predefined Tree species, in alphabetical order.

You may edit any Species to update the Species and Genus fields. Additional column headers under Species include:

  • Tree No.: This tells Traece where to start the inventory numbering system.

For example, if your American Elm “Tree No.” is defined as “1,” the first American Elm slab you enter would be “AE 2” (where “AE” is the prefix for American Elm” and “2” is the next number in the sequence).

  • Log No.: This tells Traece where to start the inventory numbering system.

For example, if your American Elm “Tree No.” is defined as “1,” the first American Elm log you enter would be “AE 2” (where “AE” is the prefix for American Elm” and “2” is the next number in the sequence).

  • Prefix.: Depending on your Tree Name, Tree Prefix will pre-populate.

For example, if you name a Tree “Black Walnut,” the Tree Prefix will automatically pre-populate with “BW.” Tree Prefix is used throughout the system as a sort of “shorthand” for Trees/Species in page views and even QR codes.

Editing Species and Species Pricing

Depending on the Tree species you most commonly work with, you may need to delete or edit some of the existing, predefined Trees in this table.

For instance, let’s say you work with American Elm, but need to update the Thicknesses and Prices for American Elm. In this case, click the edit icon in-line with American Elm.

Once here, you have the ability to update a variety of fields, including:

  • Name: This is the name of Tree you wish to define (ex. Black Walnut, Koa, Hickory, etc).

  • Tree Prefix: Depending on your Tree Name, Tree Prefix will pre-populate.

For example, if you name a Tree “Black Walnut,” the Tree Prefix will automatically pre-populate with “BW.” Tree Prefix is used throughout the system as a sort of “shorthand” for Trees/Species in page views and even QR codes.

  • Genus: Enter the Tree’s genus (optional)

  • Species: Enter the Tree’s species (optional)

  • Color: Select a color to be associated with this Tree (optional). This color appears in the Dashboards on your Traece homepage

Tree Pricing Table

Important Note: Traece has a bulk update option for Trees, Thicknesses, and Pricing (the “All Prices” tab) that may save you a significant amount of time.

Each defined species of Tree needs its own pricing. The pricing table for trees includes 5 columns:

  • Thick Name: Select the Thickness for which you want to add pricing

Note 1: Remember that this Thickness is species-specific. Your pricing for 5/4 Black Walnut may be very different than your pricing for 5/4 White Oak

Note 2: Thicknesses are defined separately, and you may want to update the Thicknesses you frequently work with under the Thicknesses tab by clicking on your Settings in the top right corner, then on Configuration, then Thicknesses. Click here to access the article.

  • Slab Price: Enter the board foot Slab price for this tree species AND this thickness. Ex. 12.00 represents $12/board foot

  • Cylinder price: Enter the board foot Cylinder/cookie price for this tree species AND this thickness. Ex. 9.00 represents $9/board foot

  • Dimensional price: Enter the board foot Dimensional price for this tree species AND this thickness. Ex. 2.50 represents $2.50/board foot

  • Actions: You have the ability to edit or delete pricing.

To modify pricing columns, you have two options: click the edit icon next to each Thickness or directly click on any price cell to update it.

  • Tree Description: Enter a Tree Description (optional) that explains traits and characteristics of this Species. Tree Descriptions may optionally be displayed on your website when selling items through Traece’s integrated eCommerce features.

  • Upload Image: Upload a photo (optional) of what this Tree looks like while it is thriving and alive. Tree photos may optionally be displayed on your website when selling items through Traece’s integrated eCommerce features.

  • Click Save.
