Are you ready to unleash the full power of your Traece™ system? One of the key steps in setting up your system is defining the Species you work with and assigning per-thickness pricing to them. By defining the various species of Trees you use and associating them with different thicknesses, you can easily set a price per thickness based on material type, whether it's Slab, Dimensional, Cylinder/cookie, or more. With these essential pieces in place, you can train the system to automatically create pricing for you, making your workflow more efficient and streamlined than ever before.

Required User Level(s): Admin only

Accessing Species Configuration

Configuring the thickness is done in the Admin Settings area of your account.

  • Navigate to your Settings in the top-right of Traece™

  • Click Configuration on the left-hand menu

  • Click the Species tab

Introduction to the Species List

After selecting the Species tab, you will have a populated species list in Traece™. The list includes the 24 most popular species that have been pre-populated. The Common Name, Genus, Species, Tree No., Log No., and Prefix is associated with each entry on the list.

  • Common Name: This is the name of the Tree you wish to define (ex. Black Walnut, Koa, Hickory, etc.).

  • Tree No. and Log No.: The Tree No. and Log No. are inventory identifiers that progressively increase as you add items linked to the individual species.

  • Tree Prefix: Depending on your Tree Name, Tree Prefix will pre-populate.

For instance, if you name a Tree “Black Walnut,” the Tree Prefix will automatically pre-populate with “BW.” Tree Prefix is used throughout the system as a sort of “shorthand” for Trees/Species in page views and even QR codes.

Adding and Editing a Tree to Traece™

  • Click Add Tree in the top right corner

  • Before adding a tree, searching for the desired tree in our database is necessary. There is a high probability that the tree you wish to add to the Species list already exists in our comprehensive database.

  • Enter the tree name into the search field, and as soon as you type in three letters, the list will begin populating with relevant suggestions.

  • The list will show the Common Name, Genus, Species, and Alternate Names.

Note: Alternate Names refer to different names that may be utilized depending on clients or regions.

  • Once you see the tree you want to add, click Select

  • You will see the Name, Tree Prefix, Tree No., and Log No. filled in.

Note: You can customize the Name and Tree Prefix according to your preference.

  • Tree Description: Enter a Tree Description (optional) that explains the traits and characteristics of this Species. Tree Descriptions may optionally be displayed on your website when selling items through Traece’s integrated eCommerce features.

  • Upload Image: Upload a photo (optional) of what this Tree looks like while it is thriving and alive. Tree photos may optionally be displayed on your website when selling items through Traece’s integrated eCommerce features.

  • Click Save

Note: If you cannot find a desired species in the list, submit the species information through Intercom, and our team will investigate and address the inclusion of the species in Traece™.

Adding a Price to the Species on Traece™
